Texture is one of the first things I noticed about Portugal.
Not the postcard views.
Not the sunshine.
The texture.
The cool, glazed surface of hand-painted tiles.
The roughness of stone walls warmed by decades of sun.
The patterned cobblestones beneath your feet.
The salt air that settles into your hair after an ocean swim.
Portugal isn’t flat.
It’s layered.
